Thanks for all the encouragement! You were all so supportive during my panic!

I went back to the Dr. and she said the leg is looking better and is beginning to heal with very little necrosis. I'm so relieved! Those natural remedies felt very soothing on the wound and I credit those with speeding my recovery. Still looks very ugly so I'll stay away from slit skirts for awhile. Jane

P.S. The Dr. who happened to be on call was one of my students moms- small world.

Sorry Jane! The same thing happened to my mom about 3 months ago. She waited a little too long to see a doctor as apparently a lot of people do. When she did see her doctor, it was very infected, but they were able to treat it with strong antibiotics. She seems to be back to her normal activities even though she still has a very nasty looking scar and a little muscle loss in her calf. It sounds like you very wisely got it taken care of earlier. Just be patient and take care of yourself! The dance will wait for you...

Spider bite is all better! I'm back to dancing with no problems. After talking to multiple bite victims, doctors and spider enthusiasts; the consensus is that it was most likely a black widow and not the brown recluse. Thanks again for all the support!

That is great! Do you consider yourself lucky that it was a black widow instead of a brown recluse? I heard the brown recluse is awful! ACKKK!!! I hate spiders! And snakes!

Yep, very lucky it was the black widow and not the recluse. The black widow will heal in time, but brown recluse bites can cause damage that lasts a lifetime! If you have a strong stomach look up pictures of brown recluse bites on the net. Gross! Those are what set off my original panic.
