Neroli is a scent that comes from something like an orange tree...it is an exotic scent with very citrus like 'notes'.
I just want to say that I totally agree on the scent overload...I can easily get a headache from too much...
I use these scents individually and every other day or so...

HA! That also reminds me of a teenage party with my friends. My friends family had a hottub in their basement. My friend Lisa and I decided to put bubble bath in the hottub and well...Bubbles were everywhere in the room by the time we were done. lol

I do not use scented oils, but I have seen those little wooden sticks sticking out of the oil at Pierre One Imports. They always smell good. I do like and have many scented candles. I have a wonderful spruce scent that my husband loves from Target. I also love the White candle Barn. Their white linen and coconut Lime verbena candles are wonderful.

Fragrance oil of your choice
bath bomb mould (I use chocolate moulds but if I am in a hurry and theyre for me I just squeeze a ball in my hands)
You can add a few drops of food coloring if you like.

Blend the citric acid and bicarbonate of soda really well. This is very important. I spend about 3-5minutes making sure it is well blended
Once you've blended it well, add color and fragrance oils to suit your preference.
Now drizzle the witchazel into the batch while stirring. Only a few drops at a time as you don't want it to fizz. ( You can use a squirt bottle todo this but I just drizzle) Continue mixing and drizzleing until the stuff sticks together when squished.
Working quickly, put it into the moulds or squeeze handfuls into balls and set on a smooth surface to dry 3-4 hours. You can usually tip them out of the moulds within minutes. Then set them to dry.
Keep the bombs in a sealed container and pop one in the bath for a treat.
The important things are: Mix the dry stuff well and work quickly once you are adding the witchazel and shaping them
I have super dry skin so I substitute about a quarter cup dry milk powder for some of the bicarb in the dry mix and about 2 tablespoons oil. The sizzle disperses the oil beautifully so the water feels silky but not oily.
These make lovely gifts for xmas and you can add things like flower petals in to give them extra pizazz. I like to wrap them in organza tied with a ribbon.
It only takes about 15-20minutes to whip up a batch.
Hope you like them too
Thank you Kiewiet for the recipe!!!

I really love it!!! And I will surely make it for Christmas presents this year! I also love the petal idea - so will have to dry some lavender flowers and rose petals! Thanks a lot gonna make it soon!

PS Shanazel, I love your definition of bath bomb...LOL

If you have any organic lavender flowers you can make nice cakes and puddings too! They not only taste great but are good for you.
I've recently made a hand cream using lavender(more like an oil as my heels and hands crack) and my partner who has exema on his face discovered the stuff soothes his skin and takes away the redness - he even likes the smell!! Now he uses it all the time!!! To think that afer all these years he still surprises me.LOL
I used aromatherapy a lot when my daughter was small as she tends to be hyperactive and needed help to slow down at night. It worked for me too

I wonder what is witch hazel used for in bath bombs? Is to bind them? What can i use to substitute it? Is it oil?

I was meaning to bake lavender cookies for ages... havent gottent to it yet! I just wonder if it is ok to use lavandula dentata because this is what is in the garden, and the recipies I have are for lavandula oficinalis... At the other house there were ENOURMOUS bushes of english lavender (oficinalis) and i loved them! One day I want to plant full garden of the stuff!

Witch hazel is from the witch hazel tree and is used to treat bedsores, bruises, eczema, insect bites, hemorrhoids, poison ivy or oak, bruises, sore muscles, swelling, psoriasis, cracked or blistered skin, diaper rash, windburn, and sunburn.
It is used as an aftershave or a facial astringent, applied to blemishes and pimples, varicose veins, and is used to cleanse oil from the skin, remove make-up, decrease bags under eyes and skin puffiness, and to reduce pore size. It is beneficial for both oily and dry mature skin, and is commonly found in anti-aging products as well as in products for blemished or acne-prone skin.
It is usually in an alcohol suspension and can be bought at chemists and some shops like Pick and pay.

All that said, some of my bath bomb recipes use water instead of witchazel and they still work.

L.dentata is usually used for cooking and L. officinalis for soaps and perfumes.

My current fav aromatherapy mix is called "stress relief" it has a mix of lavender, patchouli, clove leaf, clary sage and vetiver. Very relaxing. I use it when its that time of the month too as the clary sage is very helpfull for womens problems.

IMPortant NOTE: Be Carefull if pregnant and don't use aromatherapy oils as they can affect your pregnancy.

You can obviously use those recommended or approved by your healthcare specialists

My mother is an aromatherapist, she teach me a thing or two. I use aroma oils for baths, massage, oil burners, hair cures, treatment of minor ills and lots of other stuff. They are wonderful. A must have in life.

I love going into stores like Pierre One Imports and smelling all their candles and oils. But there is that point when it is too much as stated above. There is a woman who comes to BD class wearing this odd baby powder scent that is so overpowering, it almost makes a person sick.
