This is my main problem. I have low blood pressure (Something to do with brain blood vessels) and even coffee and caffeine pills donet seem to help.
Now I am changing my eating pattern (Have cereal every morning and lunch on time) also takeing vitamins and ginseng but still most of the time i feel like a squished lemon.... Also when it is too hot I am down and if the weather is changing and it is overcast I am dizzy and tired again I know that physical activity helps the blood circulation, but sometimes I just feel so tired after 10 min of dancing I am out of breath and dizzy... I know when I was attending class it was much better because I think you just HAVE to make it through and eventually I got so much better that after an hour of bellydance class I would stay for one more hour of ballroomdance class.... But now I am in another country and unfortunatly lessons are out of question.... Why is it so difficult to workout on your own???? I just seem to fail to go back on track.... Two month ago I was dancing everyday 15min to 1 hour and a half every day. Then I got ill and had complications and was ill for a month... it really seems to have drained me.... Seems like a vicious circle.... To get energy I need to workout and to workout I need energy I dont seem to have... *sigh* Lack of energy, anyone????

Yep I've been there .. are you low in iron ?? are you Gluton intollerance ??
I was both .. look into it .. Oats, Wheats and Barley are the culprits for gluton intollerance .. these foods flatten the hairs (villie fingers) in our stomache and calon linning .. these villie hairs are what pick up our minerals and vitamins from what we eat, if these are flattened we have no means of getting nourishment, everything good the we eat just goes straight out the back door .. it can take about 6 months for the villie hair to start reparing itself BUT no Oats, Wheat or Barley is allowed .. There are lots of alternatives out there .. rice flour and the amount of gluton free products that are on our shelves here in Australia is a blessing .. On the other hand moving to a differant climate can take it out of you too, I moved from main land to an Island and slowly started to not feel well, I had no idea what it could be, we lived on the Island for 5 years before moving back to main land (we bought a house) and I began to feel well again .. I enjoyed living on the Island and was sad to go but the differance was astounding in how I felt then to how I feel now and I've been main land for 5 years .. This is about all I can come up with Reen.Blom :-) hope you figure it out .. BTW .. Just because a blood test does not reveal to you as being allergic to what you eat, it's how YOU feel when you don't (or do) eat it !! |

Sorry to hear that Reen.
I'm not an expert, but I was wondering what might be the difference between you making in through class, but not being able to work out on your own. Do you do a proper warm up before working out on your own? I don't mean a really hard-work kind of warm up, but an easy one to prepare your body for harder work. What also might help you feel better is going for a short walk (and just walk like you've all the time in the world, don't try to push yourself too much). Go to the woods or something, somewhere where the air is more healthy and where you can find a lot of shade. Sorry I can't help you better than this. I don't have low blood pressure as far as I know, but I also don't have a very good condition and I feel a nice warm up can take me through 3 hours of dance class, and when I'm feeling tired it helps to go out for a while and get some fresh air. |

i always ask this question, its starting to get on my own nerves but here goes:
are you drinking water? perhaps its a motivational issue. have you become bored with practice? or maybe you dont see the point? and yea being in a new place, give yourself time to acclimate. this sounds like something that may be persistent. are you suffering from depression? think maybe you should talk to a doctor. a squished lemon doesnt sound too fun. maybe a break isnt always a bad idea. |

OH, RB, sorry to hear it! My first advice is get a medical check-up, if you can. There may something else going on that you don't know about, such as a nutritional deficiency or allergy or something.
I agree with slinks about wheat gluten -- my husband, too, has slightly low blood pressure and a sensitivity to wheat gluten. You can try eliminating it from your diet (no small trick -- it gets included in all kinds of things you've never heard of). If gluten is a problem you'll start feeling better within a week. All the other suggestions are good, too. From the altitude you're living at to the water you drink, the amount of sleep to how much protein you eat -- look at the whole picture.

Sometimes I am very discouraged at all the ground I still have to make up following my bout with illness this spring and summer, and I get plain old depressed about it, which contributes to tiredness which makes me skip work outs which decreases my conditioning which makes me tired which...
My sympathy to you, Reenie. I have been struggling with similar problems with no easy answers. Hang in there, babe. Shanazel |

Yes, seasons affect your energy level. I know in Minnesota in the winter, everyone comes close to hibernation. lol Some suggestions from the medical point of view...Coming from a cardiologist-keep your tank full. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies, low fat foods. Try taking a multi-vitamin such as a centrum. I would see your doctor and have some blood work done possibly thyroid screening, etc. Exercise for about 30 minutes a day, (moderately). Get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids. As boring as it may sound, try keeping a daily schedule like you have been for meals, exercise, bed at the same time and most importantly, surround yourself with positive people in your life such as us...Your fellow bellydance forum members

Food allergies can really sap the strength. I struggled for a long time with fatigue until I finally figured out (maybe about a year ago) that I have an allergy to gluten - that over the years has become very severe. You might try abstaining from gluten (very difficult as it's in near everything) or dairy...

You know Salome .. the years go past so quick, this new site here has been up 15 months .. I'm really sure I read about your gluton intolerance ailment on the old site .. I would say any where between 2 to 2 and a half years ago !!! either I'm dreaming or your calculations are out of sync with the flying years ![]() Might take off the half a year .. and leave it at 2 Last edited by slinks; 10-24-2007 at 04:19 AM. Hi Reen i am so sorry to hear that you are not a happy birdy yet!! all the above i think is realy good advice,so no need to ad ...but i think 1 is a real bigthing for you ...you love computers and i think beside all the above written you have to leave your compy...sitting hours and hours on it will leave you draint and the body just want to sleep...you have to disipline yourself about that dont sit longer than 30 to 40 minutes and get up and move do something else if you dont have energy to dance yet or exercise do other things outdoors will be good take your dog for a run? gardening? beach and swim ? i dont know if you are far from the beach....but you have to jump start your systeem ..i know if i sit to long my body dont want to get up...compy,s are a pest for the body....so you have to leave it and i am sure you will have more energy...BIG HUG Lydia
