lol .. :-D ummmm, my tummy rolls are pretty weak if anything .. I've been trying to get them going for 9 years and they are just almost non-existance !!! I do have an Alexandra King video and in this she explains that practicing too much tummy rolling can indeed give a beginner a movment in the bowels ... :-) hope this helps

it can...i remember my instructor telling us that when i was just beginning as well.
I also remember her saying that you shouldn't eat anything heavy for 2 hours before because you can get what old indian people here call "nara" - your stomach and intestines cramp and get knotted; it's very painful and can result in drastic weight loss in a short period of time. It takes a series of painful massages to get back to normal...and yes it's our experience that the massages work faster than modern medicine. |

To be honest, blackegypt, I waited to see if you were an honest newbie with a real problem not some troll! Trolls love throwing in questions on online forums about bowels, for some reason!
![]() My husband and I have done hatha yoga for years -- his intestines seem more affected by certain poses and movements, I don't notice any difference. But then, he has always had a sensitive digestive system and has to watch what he eats and take medicine to deal with chronic problems. So, I'm guessing if you've had any problems with digestion and processing, that working your abs would certainly affect you in that area. If you've not been belly dancing that long, I suspect your muscles will grow stronger, and you won't feel the urge so frequently. Doin' the Kegel exercise might help, too. That's the one where you practice tightening up internally to prevent or stop urination. Practice this a few minutes every day: Hold, release, hold, release, a little longer each time to strengthen that muscle. Also has the benefit of, ahem, enhancing sex! ![]()

![]() No...no troll here But for real, I'm a person who go frequently and go every morning upon rising. I don't know...when I start bellydancing at that moment finishing...the urge just come. That's good because the colon is what keep the abominal functioning. I'm not mad at that but wonder does anyone has that problem/or blessing![]() |

Hi Blackegypt. I don't recall any change in my peeing habits so to speak
. I do have to 'go' a lot in general, and more so after like, long dance sessions or classes, but I think that is simply from drinking all that water (a bit of water proved to be helpful in knowing you're using the correct muscles when doing bellyrolls and such, you start 'hearing' your belly move lol , plus I just need to drink for a number of reasons)!! I might have experienced something like that in the beginning, since I do recall not having to go to the little girls room so often before that, but that being almost 4 years ago I simply might not remember correctly what changed.I am the kind of person that feels the need to go to the toilet everytime when I'm waiting to go on stage though... ![]() Last edited by Yshka; 07-10-2007 at 08:40 AM. |

Blackegypt, if you haven't had a good physical exam, particularly of the gynocological sort in a year, you should consider getting one just to make sure everything's in good working order.
It should help settle any questions and enable you to focus on what you need to do to improve the situation!

Kharmine and everyone else, I think yall are confuse about the topic. I'm not talking about frequent urinating...nooooooooooo...I'm talking about NUMBER 2...THE BIG DUMP...SHYTING.
In belly dancing you use your abdomen muscule intricately and doing the belly rolls, shimmies, indulation or any abdominal exercise, I think help loosen the fecal matters in your colon. Its not that you pooping your clothes but when you have an urgency to go the restroom the bowels come out alot easier. Which is a wonderful thing. I just notice sometimes it works for me and wondering if anyone was experience it. Last edited by blackegypt; 07-11-2007 at 06:01 AM. |

HMMM, it does seem as though some ppl thought u meant urination. How funny? I have never experienced this personally. Blackegypt is referring to the other bathroom duty, maybe everyone couldnt face it so they just covered their ears, eyes, and nose lol and assumed u meant peeing.....
