Dear Shanazel, I am looking forward to it. I am really going for the weight loss, but also since I have not had any success with drugs or herbs for the hot flashes, I am hoping for some relief for that, too. The accupuncturist seems to think both are stemming from the same problems since I had no weight issues until about 10 years ago. I wish you great success and hope the same for myself. Regards, A'isha |

Dear Miss Shimmy and Shanazel, Miss S., I have heard REALLY positive things about the Fit for Life program. I hope it works out and you get everything you want from it!! Shanazel, I had my 2nd accupuncture treatment on Tuesday. The first week, I loved the treatment, which is peaceful and relaxing, but I was really ill for about 2 1/2 days afterward, with something very like motion sickness. The accupuncturist told me that this sometimes happens with hypersensitive people when the have what is referred to as a "healing crisis". In my case, she thinks my hormones were just so out of balance that my body reacted to the different energy flow very strongly. This Tuesday was awesome!! I felt great after and seem to have more energy and the hot flashes are, like 10 or 12 a day now instead of thirty. I still have cravings, but they are fewer. I am also taking a mixture of Chinese herbs clled 8 Flavor rehmenia, to help with the flashes. I have not lost any weight yet, but also have not gained any this week. I had to get up the courrage and do a total read up on the product before I could get myself to use itm because I am pretty allergic to some flowers. Anyway, I feel like this is a positive thing and will keep reporting. Regards, A'isha |

Thanks for the update, A'isha! I haven't made any appointments yet- I am so buried at work that I am not even going to manage to get my required lab work and x-rays done for a week or more. (Whine, whimper, sniffle) When I went to see my doctor this week, she chewed me out for going back to work too soon and doing too much. Once I get through this next two weeks of arbitration, mediation, and trial, I am taking a week off and just staying home, with the phone unplugged. I think a week of gardening and needlework will do me more good than anything else I can think of. My husband and son will be on an extended hunting trip, my daughter will be back in school, and I will have the house to myself- ahhhhhhhh. I can even crank up the middle eastern music without my kids making faces at me.
Your experiences encourage me, though the motion sickness thing is a bit scary. Hang in there and keep me posted! |

OK, in an effort to be more SERIOUS about exercise I have just gone out and spent more money than I've ever spent on underwear for some good sports bras!
I mean, more money than I've spent on stuff that wasn't real nice lingerie, if yuh know whut I mean! ![]() Streetwear-type bras of the pretty kind simply do not give enough support when bouncing on a mini trampoline or even when doing vigorous rowing. I'm not generously endowed, but I haven't passed the pencil test in a long time. Figured it was time to give my girls more protection. I have no excuses now...

ok ... all of you are toooooooooo cool... w/ your sports bras, & imaginary friends (am I on the wrong thread for that???)....
so just was looking at some photos of myself... 6 short years ago.... when I was "fat" & still nursing the last child..... damn..... wish I looked that "bad" (as I THOUGHT I looked back "then"!) NOW!!!!! damn??? what happened.... & I do NOT want to hear the (logical) "age" answer.... so please... all of you.... help me be in denial.... & I KNOW if I JUST GET off my butt.... things will be better (or at least firmer!!!!!).. so can we rev this thread UP!!!! & DAILY report our successes (& maybe slips!?!) so... hopefully, in the moment we can know what is working(or not?) for others??).... like tonight... I have to dance 3 performances (in one of the few costumes that still fits (TODAY added the "fat hooks") (2 different restaurants))so I THINK that is enough("exercise")???? no.... not if I still want this to be my job next year!!! so ...... hate to say it... but think I SHOULD a) stop eating SOOOOOOO much b) add some exercise....of course time is limited... ***************so who out there can recommend ADVANCED belly dance dvds... that would kick my a#*.. or at least teach something.... ************************ (while keeping from the fridge for at least one hour of the day!!!!!) PS>>>> I need to LOSE 10-15 lbs.. to keeep (get back to) my costumes fitting.... that is ALL I want..... not the 30 lbs ago 20 yr old me!!! so what I am hoping for from y'all out there is that we can all list our "goals", successes. failures, encouragements, discouragements, "plans" (for ourselves & others) & just accountabilities for our daily routines etc... if that makes sense!!!! (sorry, my mind has moved onto the " what AM I gonna wear!@!!!!!... skirts & such to go w/ my newly enlarged bedlah!) I do hope you ALL are having moe success than me!!! happy weekend!!!! |

So -- wore one of the new sports bras today and was thrilled to find how much more comfortable I was exercising in one! It really does make a difference to wear the right stuff. Having my midriff bare makes it cooler, as well.
Then our rowing machine broke on the strap that I'm supposed to rest my right heel on. Amazing how such a little detail makes the whole darn piece of equipment almost useless! We will now have to contact the manufacturer and see how this can be fixed. At least the trampoline is still in good shape. And I am remembering to drink 6 8-ounce glasses of water a day. I fill a pitcher with that much water and drink the contents throughout the day so I keep track of the amount.
