Well, I haven't collapsed into a heap of disjointed bones and plasmalized muscle, so I reckon that's a positive. It has been so hot here that I have been pretty unmotivated to move off the couch (which is strategically located beneath the ceiling fan) but have managed to get to the gym several times a week most weeks. On Wednesday, my continuing students started practicing for a September presentation, so I am getting the dancing parts of myself back into gear. Most parts seem to work okay. My knees are still mad at me for hiking with my son, unfortunately.

I sure hate this wearing out process! If I have to wear something out, why can't it be the fat instead of the knees and hips?

Heyas,

Only just come across this thread. I love it! You're all so encouraging. I'll tell you my regime so I'm more likely to stick to it. So here goes. If I'm not working:-

Monday
  • Do 15 mins of stretches
  • Have Breakfast
  • About 12ish I do my stepper for two hours and watch Midsommer Murder
  • Then at 3pm I do some planks, crunches, and bridges
  • Then before I go to bed I do the same morning strecthes

Tuesday
  • Get up, have breaky
  • I then run (with my sister) 5km to the country Park, around that which takes about an hours+ round it
  • Have a picnic there
  • then mum and dad meet us there and we walk the dogs, then get a lift home
  • Then we just shak out again at home and chill out

Wednesday
  • Stepper!
  • Pump it up
  • Then dancing drills and strectches
  • one hour of dancing at 7pm

Thursday
  • Stretch, and then me and sister just dance about in the room like goons
  • In the evening we walk the dogs to fields

Friday
  • Get up and run about on the moors for a bit (very good for resistance if nothing else)
  • Walk the dog at the same time

Saturday
  • Drag myself out of bed, and if I have a day off I get up later
  • If not I get up at 5:30 (though usually still up from night before) and run to town and back
  • If not we go to Howarth and go up on to moor's upto Top Withins and a bit beyond. Usually get pictured by strange tourists who sit there and recite Wuthering Heights. (They're always chuffed if you're Yorkshire and ask you strange questions like 'Where does she (Emily Bronte) live?' (lmao-how stupid?) and 'Would you teach me how to say words in the book?' :S)

Sunday
  • Day off, but my and sister usually walk into town to go to chippy

I always eat whatever I want though... Although I'm not a bad eater anyways, so it's all good. Right, I have two hours before I have to set off for work Oh well.

hey there sara

what a great routine!!!I love that!
thats great that you and your suster do so much together.

I have been a little tired last 2 days, but I always think on those kinds of days doing a little rather than nothing at all is good.
last night I did a little yoga,I am on a teacher training course at the moment.I was going to do callanetics but couldnt get the training, then my best friend asked if Iwould train to be a yoga teacher, she has pracyised yoga for over 30 years, she was young age of 12 when she started!
so at the moment I am learning about breathing and movement.
eating generally pretty healthy and good.

today I will do a little of everything:

- callanetics
- yoga
- dance

namaste

Default Weight, etc.

Dear Group,
I am starting acupuncture on Tuesday for weight loss and for hot flashes. I am having so little luck just doing this on my own and I am feeling very discouraged.
I will let you all know how it goes.
Regards,
A'isha

Hey A'isha. I might have an answer for you. Might...

It's like tickling. When you tickle yourself it never tickles as much as when someone else does it. That's because our mind is anticipating what we are doing, and so it lessens the effect dramatically.

Maybe because you are anticipating it it isn't working as effectivly as it will when someone else does it.

Hope it goes well.
Love Sara

Dear Sara,
I am self employed, a self starter, prefer to do things for myself. For example, I quit a two-pack a day smoking habit without getting outside help. The accupuncturist says that with my age, the hot flashes, etc, it is probably very difficult for me to lose weight because of hormonal imbalances. She says accupuncture can help with that. I never had a weight problem until just about 10 years ago. We will see what happens. I have never done any real acupuncture before, so it will be a new experience for me! ( This seems to be my year for setting new goals, trying new things, etc.)
Regards,
A'isha

Well, A'isha, on my list of things to do this week is "make appointment with accupuncturist." Can we compare notes along the way? It will certainly be a new experience for medically conservative little me, but when my ultra-conservative medical provider suggests it, I reckon I should take the advice I pay for.

Dear Shanazel,
Yes! I would love to compare notes on our experiences. I did the preliminary appointment several weeks ago. I am going for my first acupuncture on Tuesday afternoon. I will report in! ( Are you gong specifically for weight loss?)
Regards,
A'isha

For anyone thinking of trying it -- I am a firm fan of acupuncture, even though I've never had it myself. Because I've seen how it gave my husband remission from irritable bowel syndrome and is now helping to relieve him of chronic esophageal spasm.

The American Medical Association has endorsed it for various ills, and it can no longer be regarded as some kind of hocus pocus, even though medical doctors admit they don't know how it works exactly. It's an ancient practice that has helped thousands -- and there are no known side effects, so definitely worth a try.

But like anything else, it helps to get references and get an experienced practitioner. If you wouldn't let someone you weren't comfortable with cut your hair, the same standard should apply to acupuncture.

Good deal, A'isha. I don't know how long it will take me to get an appointment- he only comes up from Ft. Collins every couple of weeks. I'm seeking help to control depression, which is a major cause of weight gain for me, and ease some physical problems. I am looking forward to hearing what you have to report.

Kharmine, your recommendation added to that of my doctor is the reason I am going to try this- plus a healthy dose of sheer curiosity.
