My aim is short-term though.... for me to commit for a year is to definitly fail.... I commit for a month....(do I?) I really need to focus on excersize! I do eat reasonably healthy and I do not set an aim to lose 'that many kilos' but rater tone up and lose some kilos till I feel better about my body and fit better into my clothes.... half of my clothes are out of circulation cos they dont fit like they used to, and all that is left is that loosy baggy stuff....*sign*

I want to get back into my routine of daily excersizes even if it is 10 min a day! It suerely helps if it is every day! Plus the period cramps are totally gone without a trace if I do keep to my commitment!

I really want to lose the weight that I put on last year..... So will see how far I get my mid-march!

I started today with 25 min excersizes a VERY energetic walk that I will remember well tomorrow with muscle pain...LOL and also had a decent spash in the "puddle" dont think it does much for fitness but it DOES help deeper breathing!

Oh By the way... anyone here with tips on Breathing excersizes? Amamzingly few people breathe properly! Aweee the root of all evils....LOL

SO.... I did it.... commited I think.... Just wonder now if I ever post here again with fitness report.... or might just pretend this thread does not exist... LOL

hugs and best wishes,
reen.blom
holy moly... did I ask for a YEAR commitment????
eeekkk lets do like AA & take it a day at a time!!!!
this week I started back up teaching my college class again... that is 4 hours additional class (about 3 of it moving!!) ... so that SHOULD help... & next week I have 2 1hr/wk 6 week series starting.... so just maybe I can get rid of 5 lbs by march 5 or so....
i do not know I just do NOT seem inspired....
but since you THINK you may have committed... I guess I must! (thank you for the inspiration!)

Sadly, the last two weeks have been kinda rough. I couldn't exercise at all last week due to a damaged shoulder joint (no more overhead shoulder presses on the machine for me!!) and I was frustrated about not losing any weight the week before, so I... um, ate whatever I felt like all last week.

But I'm back on track this week, eating right, taking my vitamins and iron (under a dr.'s scrip right now *sigh*), drinking non-stop and sleeping at least eight hours every night. Not to mention, back in the gym tomorrow!! Whoot!!

Good luck in February, everyone!!

Miranda
good goals Miranda... I will "commit" to them... (+20lbs!!! since I am staring out 20lbs heavier!!! eeekkk)
how do you figure out your body fat???
I did a bmi test & it was like 25 (I think??) is that the same??
keep up the good work... now that you have me to inspire (sorry for the pressure)!!!!

sedonia... you do ROCK!!!! yes I KNOW!!! it is TRUE.... when I am "on the wagon" I must write down all i eat.. I have a fair idea of how many calories most stuff has & it is JUST like the bank acct idea... what I seem to lack is the motivation.... I do well & lose weight (in my case about 20 lbs usually in about 3 months).. then STOP keeping track ... & sure enough... that extra 100-200 calories a day (we are talking about a piece of toast w/ a TAD of peanut butter, or a latte instead of coffee w/ CREAM!) adds right back on that weight (over the course of the next 9 months)... what I have apparently NOT been able to wrap my little mind around is the LIFE long vigilance part.... UGGGH!
that & the motivation.....
what finally motivated you?
keep up the good work... everyone!
I will TRY & get back on track w/ my food journal....

oh a "trick" that has worked for me (& of course I am not doing it now!) eating 10 servings of veggies (2-3 can be fruit.. but no FRUIT juices) PER
day.. think it works cause you get soooo full on sooo few calories! not so much room for pasta (I used to PACK a 2 cup measure w/ spinach & wilt it in the microwave add it to 1/2 cup pasta & SMOTHER in a no meat red sauce (homemade w/ extra mushrooms/onions/red bell peppers/ fennel/ a carrot/ etc) & a decent amount of cheese (look for one that has a good calcium percentage).... yummmmmm MAYBE I can get back on the vegetable wagon...

I'm blessed to have a lot of support through my employer (Raytheon). For one, there's an on-site fitness center with a couple of certified trainers; they have a hand-held device that, once programmed with an individual's height/weight/and maybe age, sends some kind of signal through the person's body (it's held by both hands at about chest height for just a minute or so) that allows it to determine the body's fat, muscle and bone composition.

Just an FYI, the trainers don't like the BMI usage, due to its inaccuracy, and actually asked me to stop tracking it. Weight, inches and body fat are your best measurements.

Lay that pressure on!! LOL! I went to the gym today as scheduled and did my thing; lats, shoulders, back, triceps, biceps and abs. *whew* I've got a nice little burn going on, in my arms especially!

A random piece of info: I love the lat pulldown. There's just something about that exercise that really feels good. I'm up to 45 pounds, ten reps, 3 sets. (sshhhh, don't tell my trainer - she thinks I'm still at 35 lbs, 8 reps, 2 sets! LOL!)

Reen Blom.... glad you did it for us... that is the point I think.... Knowing we will (sort of) be held accountable (do not worry... I will not beat you if you fall off the exercise train!!!!)

Miranda... glad the pressure is working... the bmi thing (somewhere on line) where I punched in my height & weight...also asked for my waist measure... so maybe a BIT accurate???? who knows!!!

Sedonia... re read your post.. as you are our "success" story!!!
what/how does the metabolism test work??? never heard of it... is it a "machine" or a "formula"????
Unfortunately I am all for counting calories (as I said before it IS what WORKS for ME....) so today I bit the bullet & started recording info.... thanks for your inspiration!

Hello girs! I'm joining the club"losing weight-getting fit"... I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one with some weight to lose...
When I had my twins last year, I lost a lot of weight, a month after giving birth I was about 16 lbs less (+-8kg) than before getting pregnant... I was happy because all my clothes were big haha! But it wasn't so funny cause I was so tired after giving birth that I wasn't hungry at all, I onle ate thinking of my babies, as I was breastfeeding them. Some weeks later hungry came back... Until 6 weeks ago when I said STOP!
What works for me is thinking day by day, I mean, I try not to think "in 4 weeks I'll be X lbs less..." That doesn't help me at all. I work day by day, and every night when I go to sleep I feel happy for having eated healthy and light. Another thing very important for me is to eat A BIT of chocolate 8or something that I like and it's not light) sometimes... I love chocolate and now when I eat it I do it slowly, it's like a ceremonial haha!
On the getting fit side, I'm taking bellydance lessons 2 hours per week, and I dance everyday at home, even a little bit (I always practice my shimmies while I'm cooking...) and do some stretching excercies for flexibility.
I hope I haven't written too much and not made too much mistakes.
Now I have to go, I have to prepare my Super-Nice-Healthy-Salade for lunch!
