Good for you, Farasha!

Well, I have read all the latest data on regimens for weight loss, arthritis and diabetes, and it appears to be very simple: if it tastes good, spit it out.

A few years ago, I lost 72 pounds on Weight Watchers and found it a fairly pleasant eating plan until I had to drop the "points" down from 24 a day to 22. At that point, I was already struggling with a plateau only a few pounds from that legendary "ideal weight" and the simple loss of two pieces of fruit a day just tipped me over the edge into feeling deprived and angry and all sorts of negative things that led me right back up the scale 40 pounds. This time, I'll settle for where my weigh settles and not get into that old anorexic frame of mind that says Lower! Lower! Lower! and puts me right over the edge into food insanity.

But here comes the biggest thing Iīve done, I decided to quit rice forever we latin americans love rice, and in Ecuador, almost every typical dish is with rice, but Iīve made up my mind, and it has been two months without it.

I miss it sometimes, but it has not been as hard as I thought. It helps to think about myself in my beautiful dance costume at the theater, this coming december... I have to look my best
Hey Ecua

What do you eat instead of rice?

Are potatoes and pasta out as well?

What on earth is quinoa???? *feeling stupid*

Giving up rice completely would be hard for me. I like brown rice, and I love Mexican and Chinese rice dishes---I just try not to over-do.

Hi Reen, I have not replaced rice with anything, it was really just an extra on whatever meal I ate, but it also came with the extra pounds, so no more for me I still eat potatoes and pasta though but in small portions

And about quinoa, not even I that live right where it is from, know too much about it, but you got me into looking and apparently it is very high in protein, look at this site Quinoa Corporation

Hi ya', dancers! Thought I'd pop in and see how everyone's doing. Congratulations to all of you that are losing that weight! Yah! It's so hard, and so rewarding. Keep going!

In fact, everyone, keep pushing! Even if it's only a pound every other week, you're still moving in the right (healthier) direction. You didn't gain two pounds a week, why should you aim for losing two a week?

It's been nearly eight months and I'm down 22 pounds. Right now, I'm dancing (ballroom and belly) an average of 7 - 8 hours a week, so I'm getting plenty of aerobic exercise, and today, I joined the company gym so I could add weight-training to my schedule. I have an appointment with the trainer tomorrow to create a game-plan, but I'm thinking maybe three hours a week strength-training my legs & butt, abs, and arms and shoulders on rotating days.

I am scheduled to perform a Samba choreography (to Black Eyed Peas "Hey Mama!") on December 14th, so I'm pushing a little harder than I otherwise would the rest of this month and into December. I'm totally broke *sigh*, so I had to borrow a dress to dance in and the only suitable one I could find is a wee bit tight. Instead of just working at a steady pace towards a healthier me, I am now trying to lose enough that I can wear the dress and look decent in it. It's not my optimal incentive, but it'll do for now.

This morning, I put on a pair of pants and a shirt that I haven't fit into in over two years. It felt totally awesome!

Thumbs up

Good for you Auntie Crazy! It is great to feel your pants are not tight anymore, I am just experiencing that myself, my hips are going back to normal size, finally!!!

Default Weight, etc.

Dear Gagn,
I have not gained any weight since the middle of September. I have lost 5 lbs since then, which is not phenomenal, but it is steady. Two of those weeks, I did not lose anything, but at least did not gain. I think these little pin thingies my accupuncturist puts inside my ears.
Regards,
A'isha
