I am a 3B I think.
One thing that I have been doing for years now is: I NEVER use any Shampoo.
I only use TreSemme Conditioner (3min soak, then wash out).
I have heard that shampoo is bad for curly hair as it is mostly dry and in need of constant moisture. Shampoo strips off all the goodness and protective oil layers.
My hair is still nice and clean and much healthier than before. I don't understand why shampoo ads always advertise 'squeeky clean hair that squeeks when you pull it through your fingers...)? I've heard your hair shouldn't make that sound if it has protective layers...
Anyway I am getting carried away. All I normally do is condition, dry (no hairdryer!) and untangle with my fingers. Two hands full of mousse (Pantene) at the end and a bit of head-banging to heavy metal (well, you can leave that out

)
Oh and I only wash every3-4 days cos my hair looks best after a day or so.
I use mousse every day and never brush my hair... Hope that helps!
