And.... I must say that I have many times been in a room full of female belly dancers who scream their heads off and clap their hands off for a male dancer who is no better than average, and not nearly as good as many women on stage who get a smaller applause. What I see is that very often when males take the stage, dancers will not respond according to what is good or bad, but respond instead to the gender of the dancer. This is just one reason why I am against all male review type shows.

WHY
CAN'T
I
REP
YOU!!!

Prince Kayammar, I saw you at the Nile Group on the open stage and I thought you were superb - one of the very few men I have seen dancing "like a man" (Zorba, don't hate me!) and worthy of the women going crazy - for your dance abilities, rather than the "novelty" of you being a male! I also liked that you just danced, without any silly gimmicks to try to rouse the crazed women. I'm still traumatised having watched one male dancer shimmy his butt at a woman sitting crotch-level and that the audience thought this wasn't just acceptable, but worth screaming in delight!

I think the idea of an all-male show might be an interesting concept. When the women in the audience have stopped screaming at the "novelty" of men dancing, perhaps they will calm down & enjoy the dancing for what it is ? And there are plenty of shows that choose their participants quite arbitrarily, so choosing participants on gender is just as arbitrary !
