REALLY??? dancers have been dancing pregnant for WAY longer than 10 years... I know Delilah from Seattle WA. USA danced thru her pregnancy(ies) ... she has 2 girls... both at least 20 by now... Also I remember watching a vhs (Belly Dancing during Pregnancy) when I was last pregnant (he'll be 8 next month) the video was from Germany, ooh just found it .. it was copyright 1997... hey.. did not check where you are from... but if you want to buy it PM me!!
as far as PERSONAL experience... I have been teaching for 12 years... & one of my 1st classes was taught thru a women's center founded by an OB/GYN, she saw me dancing somewhere, & saw the belly flutter, came up to me & said... you know how hard it is to teach a woman in labor to do that... how would you like to teach a pre-natal BD class... so I have pregnant women in my class, off & on for the past 12 years... I DO have to say that the ones who lasted til the end were dancers BEFORE pregnancy... the "rec center" type dancers... they last til about 5 months pregnant...
but lets see a friend (bd teacher) taught & performed til 7 months... had troupe members who danced (& performed) til 7 & 8.5 months... several students who took class til 7-8 months...
I myself taught 5 classes per week til 5/11, did my last performance (student night... you have to be careful where you perform soooo pregnant... some people freak out!) 5/12, took my last class (from my recently un-pregnant friend/teacher) 5/21 (that one was HARD!!!!... 2 hours!!! i think I even sat down!!!)... gave birth to a bouncing baby boy 5/25, did my 1st performance (short one!!) 6/21... & was teaching again by 6/27.... ( I just happen to remember all this stuff cause one of my students recently interviewed me on that subject... usually I can barely remember the children's names .... or at least who is who!!!)
HOWEVER... as you can tell, I am a hard core dancer... this was my 3rd child, (though the 1st 2= 13 & 15 years older than this last one, and I was NOT dancing when I had them..... all & all I DO have to say that this last pregnancy AND delivery AND ESPECIALLY!!!! recovery was easier with this last one... even though I was 35 when he was born!)
so, in your case... you say you are trying again... I do hope this means you have had one successful pregnancy/birth... I would look at that (YOUR history) as well as what activities you were used to doing (one of my students was not a bellydancer... but a 4+ hour a day ballet dancer... who switched over for the pregnancy... she took lessons til 8 months... but AGAIN... her body was USED to dancing!)
and of course ALWAYS check with your doctor... but remember, even 40 years ago pregnancy tests couldn't tell if you were even pregnant til after TWO missed periods.... & most doctors seem to think it is ok to continue regular (to you) activities (with the exception of horse back riding/ surfing/tackle foot ball.... basically HARD IMPACT sports at least thru months 3-4....
GOOD LUCK!!!
