I like comedy/light pieces when they're done with good dancing. It is a nice break in a show, and a chance for light-heartedness.

A'isha -- I'm curious about how you would costume a Goth piece!! I'd love to see something different from the typical Black Corset Belt With Gauntlets. (yawn).

Something I'd love to see would be a costume for an interpretive piece that focused on TONS of fabric, draped in unique ways. Like, where you could use part of your costume as an attached veil, and use it to selectively hide/cover parts of your body. I have a vision in my head for this Goth piece I'd LOVE to do, but don't have any idea how to realize it in actual fabric.

Dear Aziyade,
I would like to see something in gun metal and maroon, to begin with for a Goth look. From there its better to hear the music, meet the dancer, etc.
I have designed and built a costume where the skirt and veil are the same piece of fabric. It was for a Jeel number that had very strong Nubian overtones. Mark Balahadia got a huge kick out of the costumes. I did have to refurbish them last year since I had made them about 10 years ago and could not find all the small parts, etc. They are pretty fun on stage.
Regards,
A'isha
