Great thread idea! Would like to point out that for decades "AmCab" was just belly dancing done by American performers and as it retains its ethnic roots, can look more Turkish, Greek or even Egyptian because of the different influences. It really depends on the particular dancer and what influences were strongest in her/his training.

IMHO, classic AmCab resembles Turkish style strongly, probably because some of the most influential early ethnic club performers on the East Coast and as far as Chicago were imported from Turkey.

This is one of my most favorite Salome videos because it's rather rare to see real belly dancing done slowly yet beautifully to the right music. And it's especially nice to see her performing to a live band playing good, ethnic-style music.
