That's a great story, Shanasel,
I do, or rather did, have a navel piercing. It was my present to myself for my 30th birthday. I took it out when I had more babies because I was afraid of the hole stretching too much.
However, 10 years earlier, when I wanted a navel piercing but they weren't popular at all and I was also too chicken to get it done I used to wear a lot of midriff tops and for special nights out I'd use super glue stick a fake jewel into my belly button. Most nights it would stay put the entire night but not always and it usually fell out the next day. It seems a crazy idea to put super glue on my body now but I got the idea from a friend. She has very cute but large ears that stick way out that she hated so much. She didn't want to have surgery to remedy the problem permanently but she would use super glue to stick them back when she went out. This worked really well for her except on one occasion when one ear unglued and the other was still firmly stuck down flat.
These days you can get fake navel rings - not a bad way to try it out to see if you want one for real.
