When I had time to read, I didn’t have much money to buy as many books as I wanted, and now that I have it, I barely have time, and keep falling asleep every night with the book in my hand… so, for months I’ve been trying to get through Abdelwahab Meddeb’s ‘The Malady of Islam’, which I’ve found very tough going and obscurely written… pfft. So in the meantime, I reread Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ for the umpteenth time, and began Philip Roth’s ‘The Plot Against America’. I’ve also just finished the third book of Lone Wolf and Cub, by K. Koike and G. Kojima... sigh - I wish I could read in Japanese (it's a manga series).
On my ever-growing to-read pile are (first among a bunch of others) the third book of 'Maison Ikkoku' by Rumiko Takahashi... it's another manga, and the story's hilariously funny and sweet, but for some reason I can't seem to pick it up again... also P. Roth's 'The Human Stain', which I'd started to read, but then decided to finish 'The Plot...' first. Also a series of novels set in different periods of Spanish history... can't wait for Spring Break to see if I can finally catch up.
