Rodi, its obvious that there is a lot about this dance that you do not know. It is a well known fact that the bedlah was in fact invented by Europeans. It represented their fantasy of the East. The first Egyptians to wear it worked for Badia Masabni in her night club, the Casino Opera. Every dancer in here knows this.
Since you ask me where I get my information, as I told you, I have a college degree in history and I was a history teacher as well. I have been to the Sultan's palace in Istanbul in Turkey, I know how the women dressed because their clothes are still on display. There are also dozens of photographs of Egyptian and dancers which show how thwey dressed. There are even more letters written by Europeans from as far back as 300 years ago that discribe what the dancers wore, THEY WERE ALWAYS COVERD.
(Can someone else besides A'isha back me up on this and maybe even offer a website with photos or pictures?).

#2. where do you get your information about this dance's history?
