Wow!
What a great community! I'm very impressed with the amount of feedback you've shared already... and Mariesaffron, we especially appreciate your enthusiasm!
Ok, so if I am hearing this correctly, it sounds like our stuff might be fine for Goth-style dancers as is or with minor modifications, but fetishy in general, and spikes in particular are too much for the traditional forms.
I was very surprised to hear da Sage's comment about audiences "over-sexualizing" your art. I know virtually nothing about your art, but what little I do know led me to believe that it was beautiful, sensual and inherently sexy. Call me crazy, but I thought you could not possibly have too much of any of those attributes!
Alas, not being a performer I don't understand the specific issues that you all face, but if we are going to make items to support you, it's get to understand these things up front!
If I might impose on this community's hospitality another time, could you share with me links to some of your favorite stores and items for the jewlery that you wear in your costumes?
This will help us by giving us a solid starting place for research into what is currently available, and what traditional pieces look like.
My sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the conversation so far!
